Role: Bid Manager

Location: North west England

Your new role

 

The role:

Responsible for bid management of projects from inception stage through to tender submission and contract award ensuring that the company is appropriately represented and opportunities are maximised. 

Assisting and co-ordinating all other functions at appropriate stages of bid and pre-construction development. 

 

  • The fundamental tasks of the job are all as noted on the bid process checklist and within the company’s various manuals, namely: 
  • Safety 
  • Ensure the business complies with legislative requirements as part of the Regulations during pre-construction activities 
  • Assess significant H&S risks as part of the overall risk management approach 
  • Company 
  • Suggest improvements to company systems so that they address the continuing business needs. 
  • Continually develop relationships with consultants, clients & supply chain. 
  • Supply Chain 
  • Ensure that the supply chain is considered to satisfy the requirements of the projects 
  • Support the commercial and contractual aspects of the supply chain tenders and offers 
  • Production & Commercial 
  • Manage the pre-construction activities for projects 
  • Prepare tender price and submission documents for bids 
  • Co-ordinate costs for projects at feasibility stage 
  • Produce pre-construction information and settlement reports as required 
  • Monitor and manage tender correspondence/documents/drawings in conjunction with others 
  • Understand construction programmes and their implications 
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities associated with tenders 
  • Identify value engineering to maximise commercial returns to the business 
  • Attend external and internal meetings and interviews 
  • Provide advice to external and internal teams 
  • Manage the production of tender deliverables 
  • Ensure that the management of bids, from early design stages through to site commencement, is progressed in line with the tender programme in accordance with procedure 
  • Prepare comprehensive handover documentation of successful tenders from the pre-construction to operational teams and assist in the early integration where necessary 
  • Any other duties which may be allocated to you from time to time 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/RELEVANT INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Complimentary relevant industrial experience with a construction related academic qualification 
  • IT literate and numerate 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Able to identify and assess risk and develop winning strategies for projects 
  • Sound knowledge of bidding strategies & techniques 
  • Full driving licence 
  • The post will be subject to health surveillance and regular/random drug and alcohol testing
