Your new role

 

The primary role of the Commercial Director is to provide operational commercial support to the Managing Director, leading the commercial team within the regional business to provide assurance that the business objectives are being met while continuously assessing and risk and opportunity.

About the role:

  • Lead and manage the commercial team in assessing, securing, and managing contracts with our development partners.Where directed by the MD, the Commercial Director will assist and advise on legal and contractual matters during preconstruction.
  • Production of monthly financial results, including forecasting year-end financial position.
  • Develop and present commercial strategies and proposals. 
  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure timely and consistent cost, cashflow and forecast information.
  • Continuous development by reviewing and auditing reporting, costs and forecasting are delieverd to a high quality and in a timely manner.
  • Carry out internal audits and cost/value investigations as required on projects that display concerns in respect of programme slippage and report findings.
  • Ensure that all Commercial policies and procedures are being implemented diligently within the business and raise any non-conformances found with the MD to allow corrective action. Monitor that all projects have planned cashflows, that variations and final accounts processes are diligently applied. This will include visiting projects on a regular basis to undertake assurance checks.
  • Governance & Risk – Ensure that governance and risk management is robust, and review and strengthen and enhance our processes and risk management in all areas.
  • Constantly monitor the business project risk, opportunity, recovery, cashflows and expenditure and advise the MD of any change to the budget/forecasted outcome.
  • Attend Regional Board meetings.

About you:

  • Relevant Quantity Surveying degree
  • Relevant Professional qualification (preferred)
  • Senior level professional commercial experience.
  • Wide experience of the construction marketplace.
  • An excellent knowledge of procurement processes.
  • Experience in delivering targets through the effective appointment and management of all Construction
