Portering Supervisor

 

Location: Chester Le Street Community Hospital 

Working hours: 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7:30am to 3:45pm 

Contract: Permanent

Your new role

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure staff rotas cover holiday or sickness absence.
  • Complete weekly, monthly wage returns for staff.
  • Provide the Porting team with weekly briefs & updates.
  • Ensure that weekly performance requirements are recorded and provided to the FM Contract Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all internal and external mail is collected & delivered within the SLA.
  • Ensuring that medical gas cylinders are stocked to the required level and managed in line with the site Medical Gases Policy – ordering, changing and fault-finding.
  • Ensure continuous security cover for the facilities by monitoring the CCTV units
  • Provide a Helpdesk function
  • Provide training for new and existing staff, assess competence and ensure staff are trained in portering duties to the highest possible standard
  • Ensure winter gritting and snow clearing is carried out in times of adverse weather.
  • Ensure mortuary duties as detailed within the Porters’ Procedures are completed as necessary.

What you'll need:

  • Well-mannered, courteous and well-presented
  • An ability to communicate at all levels
  • Level-headed and can remain calm during an emergency
  • Able to take instructions yet at all times prioritise and use own initiative
  • Able to work to tight schedules
  • Supervisory qualification NVQ L2 or equivalent or willing to complete

The successful candidate will require an Enhanced DBS Check before starting in the job.
