Maintenance Electrician 

 

Location: University Hospital of North Durham 

Working Hours: 38.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Your new role

What you'll do:

  • To ensure that the Facilities are maintained to the levels specified in the Performance Standards of the contract.
  • To undertake planned, responsive, and cyclical maintenance work as per the agreed
  • To undertake maintenance duties in such a manner as to support the objectives of the client and with respect for the dignity and privacy of the client teams, understanding the contract requirements including no access arrangements.
  • To ensure the safe operation of all plant, equipment, and
  • To operate at all times with safe working practices with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH, Control of Infection, Waste Disposal etc in accordance with legislative requirements and policies and procedures of RFM.
  • To maintain asset histories, maintenance records and helpdesk reports, informing the RFM Electrical Engineering Manager and/or sub-contractors of any follow up action that may be required.
  • To report all accidents and incidents as
  • The post holder will be required to maintain an awareness of RFM's policies, procedures and objectives related to the successful delivery of the maintenance service.
  • Take part in an out of hours On Call Rota.
  • To carry out any other duties assigned by your line manager in connection with RFM’s operational requirements.

What you'll need:

  • Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical, Engineering Equivalent to NVQ Level 4 Higher National Diploma, Modern Apprenticeship - Level 4.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Level 3 C&G 2391 Award in the Inspection, testing and verification of fixed wiring systems.
  • Level 3 Awards in the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT)
  • Experience in electrical power distribution systems/lighting systems and fault finding and installation
  • Fixed Wire Testing
  • Inservice Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
  • Knowledge of Health Technical Memorandum’s (HTM’s)
  • Knowledge of IPS & UPS
  • Experience working within a Healthcare Environment (desirable)
  • Valid UK Driving Licence for at least 12 months 

The successful applicant may be required to submit to Enhanced DBS background screening before starting in the job. 

 

Who we’re looking for:

 

To work as part of a flexible team with continuing responsibility for the provision of a comprehensive, high quality hard FM service across the UHND site. The post holder will have a designated core skill, e.g., Electrician and will ensure all maintenance tasks are completed to approved statutory standards. The post holder will be responsible for technical fault finding, diagnosis, testing, and repair on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment, e.g. electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control and automation and standby generator plant.
