Role: Buyer - Fixed Term Contract (10 months)

Location: Stirling/Flexible or hybrid working options

Your new role

As a Buyer you will be responsible for all aspects of the procurement process in accordance with Robertson Group Procurement and Supply Chain Management Strategy in the delivery of requirements, under the guidance and supervision of the Lead Buyer.

 

What you'll do:

  • Preparation and issue of request for proposals and quotations utilising suppliers from the appropriate company approved supplier’s database
  • Compilation of data relating to supplier responses, highlighting inconsistences and differences, presenting information and responses in a manor to enable evaluation
  • Work with and advise project teams on material specifications and value engineered alternatives where appropriate
  • Propose order awards to the Head of Procurement and project team, highlighting distinguishing factors between suppliers and the rationale behind recommendations taking account of value adding service, whole life cost, sustainable solutions, etc
  • Lead and support final negotiations with selected suppliers to raise purchase orders for all materials and plant hire requirements in line with company policies and procedures to meet site programme requirements
  • Maximise benefit to the Robertson Group through standardisation of specifications and supply chain rationalisation to ensure best value
  • Drive process compliance through the implementation of systems to ensure efficient procurement process and continuous improvement
  • Liaise with sites to assist with the resolution of supply issues as and when required
  • Investigate and support the resolution of supplier invoice queries
  • Attend site and office-based Bid/Prestart/Project meetings as required
  • Provide regular reports on procurement betterment and ongoing performance evaluation and development of key suppliers and manufacturers
  • Manage relationships and Supply Chain agreements with selected suppliers, including agreement renewal; performance; spend; strengths; weaknesses and opportunities
  • Monitor the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meet with suppliers to understand their products

What you'll need:

  • Qualified to Level 4 CIPS, degree or equivalent industry experience.  An interest in studying towards full MCIPS membership is advantageous
  • The role will require substantial experience of complex procurement processes within a construction related environment
  • The individual will need to demonstrate a proven track record in managing supplier relationships, negotiation, process compliance and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • The role will require excellent analytical and IT skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement
  • The ability to adopt a pragmatic, yet disciplined approach to process compliance, is essential
  • Demonstrates a passion and excitement for his/her work
  • Tackles problems head-on and works to resolve them without delay
  • Willing to go the extra mile to exceed expectations
  • Continually searches for ways to add value and take performance to the next level
  • Puts aside personal agendas to work for the benefit of customers and suppliers and other stakeholders
