    As Head of Sustainability, you’ll be responsible for:


    You to lead the development and delivery of a group-wide strategic sustainability initiative, integrating sustainability throughout the group. Ensure that the group’s sustainability effort enhances business performance and supports its long-term interests in transforming the communities we work in.


    Oversee all aspects of delivering a sustainable approach across the group. Influencing both internal and external stakeholders to develop the successful delivery, implementation and monitoring of our group wide sustainability objectives in relation to the following:

    • Lead the effort to create a sustainability vision for the company encompassing people, profit and planet.
    • Establish a group wide sustainability strategy which complies with all relevant Sustainability and Environmental legislation and accreditations.
    • Develop the business case to address sustainability issues.
    • Engage and secure senior level commitment and support for integrating sustainable development into core processes and decision-making.
    • Collaborate with all areas of the Robertson group to develop a coordinated sustainability plan which will facilitate the delivery of our sustainability strategy.
    • Build sustainability principles into short and long-term business planning.
    • Form and lead an internal Sustainability working group that will help shape and initially oversee the launch of the Sustainability effort of the company.
    • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for sustainability, monitoring emerging trends, programs and issues, and communicating and educating others on sustainability topics
    • Lead as the central point of contact for any and all interfaces with customers on the subject of Sustainability.
    • Foster a culture of sustainability through ongoing organisational communications and education.
    • Create and implement communication strategies to create a culture and formalise the company’s sustainability effort and promote broad awareness of sustainability initiatives, both internally and externally.
    • Build effective partnerships with external organisations to support sustainability efforts.
    • Formulate action plans with defined objectives, targets and responsibilities to support agreed sustainability strategies.
    • Ensure appropriate internal controls and measurement systems are in place to support sustainability efforts.
    • Measure and monitor progress against sustainability strategies, objectives and performance targets through the development of appropriate key management information reporting.

    To join us, we’re looking for:

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, e.g. environmental studies or sustainable development.
    • Charter membership (or working towards) with a relevant professional body eg, CIBSE, IEMA, MICRS
    • The role requires a depth of experience working in sustainability ideally with a background in the built environment, possessing a strong knowledge of BREEAM
    • The role will require strategic thinking, leadership, influencing and change management, as well as a proven track record in people management.
    • The ability to adopt a pragmatic, yet disciplined approach to process compliance, is essential
    • Thinks broadly about the business, going beyond own professional knowledge to demonstrate sound commercial judgement. Generates innovative approaches with potentially significant long-term impact.
    • Demonstrates complete focus and determination to achieve successful outcomes. Is a self-starter, and takes the initiative in situations. Clearly communicates ideas, plans and priorities to others.

    • Plans and organises resources to safely achieve maximum efficiency and output.  Delivers results consistently, identifies and implements opportunities to increase sales and profit or reduce costs
