This role will be working for Robertson Specalist Division based in Stirling or Dundee.

As a Quantity Surveyor, youll be responsible for:

  • Setting up Contract Insurances with our insurers.
  • Awarding Sub-Contract agreements with Sub-Contracts, at this time maximising profit via price betterment/Main Contractor discounts.
  • Attending, contributing to and minuting Project Team Meetings.
  • Attend and contributing to Clients’ site meetings.
  • Keeping master files of correspondence on contract.
  • Preparing Interim Valuations with Client’s Surveyor and agreeing amounts for payment.  This involves valuing work executed and materials on site.
  • Paying Sub-Contractors their appropriate monthly payments.
  • Re-measuring work using site measurement, measurement from drawings, information from Site Agents/Bonus Department.
  • Informing Sub-Contractors of Contract variations.
  • Valuing variations.
  • Pricing Dayworks.
  • Dealing with contractual problems.
  • Provision of cost advice to Design Consultants e.g. quotations.
  • Reporting to Chief Surveyor on job performance via cost/value comparisons.
  • Preparing Cash Flow Forecasts for the Commercial Manager.
  • Preparing Surveying Reports for Commercial Manager.
  • Trying to incorporate specification changes which make us money.
  • Pricing insurance claims.
  • Agreeing Sub-Contractor Final Accounts
  • Agreeing Contract Final Account with Clients’ Surveyor following final appraisal
  • of Contract correspondence, i.e. each Surveyor should read through all
  • correspondences, purchase order files and invoice files to ensure that nothing has slipped without the appropriate financial reimbursement having been made.
  • Ensuring that retention monies/additional monies are released and correspondence is boxed for 5 year loft storage.
  • Ad Hoc contract management duties as and when required.

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivelant



  • CSCS card holder
  • IT literacy including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Health & Safety knowledge 
  • Budget Compilation & Management
  • Analytical & problem solving skills
  • Ability to chair meetings
  • Sales and negotiating skills
  • Objective setting
