This position is for Robertson Timber Engineering based in Seaham.

As Operations Director, youll be responsible for:


  • Providing support / managing the operational side of the business to meet the demands of safety, profitability and production through the economic use of the companies resources.
  • A primary function will include supporting and developing senior management in maintaining robust and effective management teams to lead the timber frame erect within the business, which will cover the whole of the UK. 
  • Assisting with pre-construction resource for all projects, also provide support to the estimating team relative to tender submissions as required.  
  • Leading for the delivery and compliance of Health and Safety Environmental and Quality process and procedures for timber frame erect, ensuring the maintaining of all statutory and industry requirements and standards 
  • Acting to ensure all those within your control act professionally to protect and maintain the good standing of the Company within the industry and its clients. 
  • Working in conjunction with the company MD and members of the senior team in terms of issues that affect the operational effectiveness of the business.
  • Take ownership of the timber frame erect programmes and ensure these are followed and reported on a weekly basis by the operational teams.
  • Help build the subcontractor teams throughout the business and assist the commercial team with selection and appointments of erect teams. 
  • Ensure that projects are handed over timeously as per the contract dates. This will include a full handover document with both parties signing this off. 
  • Maintain regular contact with Operational Management to ensure Management are motivated to achieve Company goals. Ensuring managers utilise and follow, Robertson processes and procedures to deliver the requirement outcomes on all projects. 
  • Provide appropriate direction to senior HSE Management including monitoring all the aspects of HSE and attaining the continuous improvement ethos required. 
  • Manage the Quality aspects of the Business through providing leadership to the Quality Manager and ensuring all relevant accreditations and certifications are maintained. 
  • Provide and maintain clear process and procedures for planning, monitoring and reporting on programming for all projects throughout the business. 
  • Provide leadership and management of timber frame erect preconstruction resource, including design management, planning and cost management for all projects deemed to be led by the core team. 
  • Attend appropriate tender finalisation meetings for projects both internally and including TCI meetings with external clients. 
  • Provide support through reviewing and advising on all bid submissions relative to timber frame erect activities.
