We are currently seeking to employ a Mechanical Estimator to work as part of an existing estimating team based at our Gateshead office. This position will be working for Robertson Engineering Services.

As Mechanical Estimator, you’ll be responsible for: 

  • Vetting of incoming tender enquiries for suitability and developing a bid strategy to tender
  • Produce estimates for both traditional and design and build projects, with a contract value of up to £5 million
  • Produce mechanical cost plans for feasibility / budget purposes
  • Liaise with the Client and Design teams during the tender process as necessary
  • Carryout accurate “take off” and input of all materials required and applying the relevant labour norms within the estimation software
  • Issue and vetting of materials / sub contract enquiries
  • Prepare tender adjudication / settlement documents for senior level approval
  • Establish potential value engineering savings and / or areas of potential risk within the tendered scheme
  • Prepare and check tender letters, technical notes and qualifications for issue

To join us, we’re looking for:

  • Mechanical services estimating experience within the commercial, retail, educational, healthcare, domestic and industrial sectors
  • Understanding and experience of using estimation IT software
  • Communication skills
  • Organisation skills
  • Mechanical services related formal qualifications (HNC/ONC and/or time served apprenticeship preferred
