This role will be working for Robertson Construction England within their Engineering Services divison based in Baltic Place, Gateshead.

As Business Development Manager you’ll be responsible for:

  • Securing and developing opportunities across Construction England
  • Supporting the Director of Engineering Services as part of his core team accountable to the Construction England Directors and Main Board for the delivery of the Company’s Budget/Strategy and the good management of the business
  • Responsibility to market and develop opportunities for the business and secure profitable work streams in current, alternative and future markets
  • Ensuring compliance in terms of business development and Pre- Construction with Robertson Construction governance and procedures
  • Being the primary driver of business development for new clients whilst also liaising with existing client representatives to develop and maintain positive constructive relationships
  • Management of the CRM systems and the updating of data and the production of reports for inclusion in Regional Board Report
  • Preparing market research on Construction industry within the operating regions identifying each sector available, the potential workload available, the indicative margin which may be obtainable, the growth potential of each sector, the main sources of work together with any identifiable future sources and a comprehensive list of competitors involved in each sector
  • Identifying pipeline of most suitable opportunities in terms of targeted projects, manage opportunities to ensure best strategic fit to the business plan and the business capability
  • Liaising closely with the estimating manager & pre constructionteam ensuring that a constant relationship is developed to improve overall effectiveness of bids
  • Responsiblity for preparation of all pre-qualification documentation and pre and post tender presentations
  • Preparing proposals in conjunction with Director and submit for approval for corporate marketing and entertainment
  • Entertainment of key clients and professionals to be on a regular basis throughout the regional operating areas, attendance at key engineering & construction related functions
  • Retaining regular dialogue with other companies within Robertson Construction/Group Group, sharing market intelligence toward the mutual benefit of the Group
  • Providing support to the business as necessary and in line with skills and experience
  • Working with Robertson Group Marketing Executive in terms of bid material,PR and press contact; proactively suggest quality opportunities to raise the company profile following approval of the Marketing Executive
  • Undertaking such other duties as may be reasonably required of her/him in the role
